Rocked That Vote

I thought I already posted this. I guess not.
So here it is, me taking advantage of the liberty of voting.

Aziz

My amazing friend Caren invited me up to LA to attend the Aziz Ansari, along with my other fabulous friend Brett, back in October. I had such an amazing time (no surprise there). The Orpheum theatre was gorgeous, with an old-time charm that made the whole experience that much more enjoyable.

Aziz was hilarious and adorable and I had loads of fun.

The following Monday morning I was delighted to see a familiar face on Sesame Street!

A big thanks to Nippon for holding down the fort over night while I got to enjoyed myself without a family entourage.

Professional pics

I like to pretend that I live in the era where professional photography is more of a single event apparently. This is the first time I've taken my children to have their photography taken by someone other than Nippon or I. Unless you want to include the photographer at the hospital (and please do so, so that I don't feel so inadequate). Anyhoo...here are two of my favorites.

I can't get over how lucky I am to have these beautiful, intelligent, and unique children.
My heart is full.

Afton + Nina

Afton and Nina have been friends since they began preschool together in 2012. They are quite the silly duo. I am constantly being told stories about how Afton kissed Nina (I asked if it was on the lips, and he replied appalled, "NO! Just on the shirt."), how he likes to go destroy her rolly-polly house during recess (he seems to think this an extremely fun thing to do), and how he sat next to Nina at lunch (this happens a lot). They have proved to be good friends even though they aren't in the same class this year.

This picture is from a play date at a fun bouncy house place they went to the other day.
I LOVE Nina's face!

Serial

I've been listening to this podcast called Serial, and I really really like it. It is a true story about a murder that took place in '99 and the teenager (now in his 30s) that was convicted of the crime. But did he do it? That is the basic point of the podcast. The journalist's search for "the truth." But the underlying message, to me, is about perspective. I've gotten into a mess of my own, where perception has played a huge part in creating negativity where I had not meant for it to be, and it comes down to almost 100% perspective.  Anyhoo, I have found listening to this podcast to be more than just a "who-done-it," but it is also very enthralling trying to figure out who's lying, who's points of views are askew, and what the heck happened!? If you get a change, and you like this sort of thing, check it out.

My Boy

He draws really great pictures.

He is a a great brother and friend.

He's intelligent. At the library he picked out a Sumerian epic.

He is shy and silly and has a killer smile.

I heart my boy.
