Sunshine Gardens

After going to the Botanic Gardens the other day, we decided to check out this nursery. I've been wanting to stop at it since we first drove by on the way to visit the gardens. Apparently it's the oldest and largest independent garden center in Encinitas. There are tons of plants for sell, sectioned off into groups, i.e. , vines, edibles, trees, succulents, ect. We could have wondered around looking at new and interesting plants all day. Afton really wanted to buy a bunch of plants to put in the garden. There is also a super cute gift shop that sells all kinds of cute birdhouses, garden decorations, and pots. They even sell these cute miniature gardens with tiny benches,  little pots filled with grasses and tiny flowers, and other small items like garden gnomes and watering cans. The lady there said they hold miniature garden workshops! I think my mother would have adored them. Lastly, they had a bakery with the most delicious cupcakes ever. I am a big chocolate fan, but their strawberry kiss cupcake was to die for.

I didn't remember to take any pictures until we made it into the little area where they had a large bird cage and houseplants for sale. Rowan and Afton were totally enthralled by the active and loud Finches and Parakeets. It was a really nice set up, with lots of lovely plants and relaxing wooden chairs. Next time I'm actually going to buy some plants!

What a Year!

I have been reluctant to write this post for some reason. I guess it is because I'm a little sad that my baby girl has turned a year old. Silly, I know. I just want this time to last a little bit longer. Anyway, we had a small party at home with just our family. The night before Nippon and I (even Afton tried a few) blew up 20 balloons and covered the living room floor. She was so excited when she came down the stairs in the morning and played with those balloons for days.

I hung up streamers and some cute Disney lanterns to make it more festive.

We bought her a small shopping cart that she instantly knew what to do with. She added her baby right to the little seat and began pushing her around. Gradually she added items to the basket as she came across them. When she would get stuck she was grunt until one of us turn it around for her.

Presents were wrapped and a delicious chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and buttercream frosting was ordered.

Off with the cute dress (that I didn't even get a picture of!) and into disposable diapers. I didn't want my cute cloth diapers to get all yucky. Ha!

She had her own cupcake that she was allowed to destroy.

Surprisingly she ate a lot of it!

It's my party I can cry if I want to, cry if I want to.....

All cleaned up and ready for presents! She wasn't sure what to do with them but with a little help from her brother she got the hang of it.

Pretty Birthday Princess

My mom gave Rowan and I this awesome drum made of a tree trunk and hide. It's got a great sound and each of us has had a drumming session with it. She even made us a mallet to go with it. How cool is that?!

Happy 1st  Birthday Lil Bug.

Retro Photos

I was going through my phone and decided to delete an app called RetroCamera because I never use it. I saved a few pictures worth saving and thought I'd post them.
