Iron Update

Rowan went to the doctor again last week to have her iron levels checked on. She is one smart cookie. She knew something was up. When we walked back, before even going into the room, she started crying. She had tears streaming down her face just getting her weight checked. (She is 16lbs 12oz.) Once inside the room I had to calm her down just to have her finger pricked. Then it was straight back to crying. She had another meltdown when the doctor came in to talk with me and finished the visit off with another crying session when he returned to tell me her results. Just the sight of a doctor or nurse sent her into tears. Poor kid. Anyway, her iron hemoglobin concentration has risen from 9.5 to 10 grams per deciliter (12 is the average). The doctor is happy with the increase and said to continue with the ferrous sulfate drops. She will be checked again at her one year visit. I'm sure not looking forward to it, and if she knew she'd be even less thrilled.
