Bestest Mom

Happiest of Mother's Day to the coolest mom on the block.
I'm the luckiest girl in Artesia having you for a mother.
I love you to the max.

My momma is gorgeous.
Also, my room as a teenager ruled.

Melody's Party

Afton was invited to his friend Melody's 5th birthday party at this place called Pump It Up. They have tons of inflatable bounce houses, slides, and obstacle courses. Afton L-O-V-E-S Melody. He talks about her all the time, and while we were there he followed her everywhere. When she would run off playing and Afton couldn't find her, he would come to me with this desperate look. "Where did she go? Find her!"

Afton met Melody, and most of the other kids in attendance, when he was going to Ms. Brittany's preschool class at My Kids Clubhouse last summer. It's nice that we keep in touch with the kids he made friends with first after moving to San Diego.

Melody is the one in the pink tights.
She is really a sweetheart and friends with everyone.

These pictures crack me up. Those are huge boxing gloves, Afton tried using them and they were so massive they knocked him over. Then he tried to pretend he fell over on purpose and started bouncing around and landed on this red ball. Hahaha!

Floaties

I've been taking the kids to Floaties for swim lessons for the last month. Afton had taken swimming lessons when we were in AZ, back when he was a toddler. but since we haven't really been swimming much since moving to CA he really needed a class. Both kids are in the beginner levels (obviously) and they both love it, especially Afton. With each new thing he learns he has to come get a high five. He can now push off toward his teacher from the ledge with his head in the water and he can open his eye underwater. The latter is a big accomplishment since he cries when water gets in his eyes, even in the bath.

(Sorry for the quality of pictures. My HDR feature was accidentally turned on and the pictures come out blurry when uploaded. Grrrrr!)

This is Tracy, Rowan's teacher. She rules. Rowan has had a bit of separation anxiety and Tracy knew just how to relieve that. Instead of passing Rowan to her facing forward, she now comes in from behind making the transition less stressful. Rowan knows Tracy has her but she doesn't freak out like she's being ripped away from me. Pretty cool. Rowan has been going underwater a lot and has only inhaled water once....seriously, once! Sometimes when she comes up she has water in her nose and she just breathes it out. I think my favorite part of this whole swimming thing with Rowan is the swimsuit. I think I need to get her at least 10 more because she looks so adorable in them. They are so tiny and cute!

This is Marley, Affy's teacher. He adores her., and she says he's a pretty great student as well. She is so patient with him and calm, perfect for my silly boy who didn't like getting his head wet. She knows he is obsessed with Star Wars so she always finds him the floating R2-D2 for him to play with.

Yay for swimming!

Yup, They're Mine

They may not have my skin tone, eye color, or hair....but they have my silliness!

Couches Die

Afton:  Everything dies.
Me:  All living things die.
Afton:  Couches die.
Me:  Couches aren't alive.
Afton:  But they are in the living room!

Lazy Mall Day

The other day the kids and I met up with Nippon for lunch at the UTC mall in University City. They have the best food court! We (more like Afton) picked sushi, but there are a bunch of non-typical mall restaurants to choose from.  Also, right near the food court is an ice rink. I really want to go back and skate sometime. It looked super fun. After we ate, and Nippon had gone back to work, the kids and I decided to walk around. I'm so glad we did. They have a great little play area with a slide and lots of things to climb. Afton loved it and didn't want to leave. I had to bribe him with frozen yogurt. We checked out a few shops and lazed on the cool wicker couches and listened to the fountain. Such a nice and relaxing day.
