Santa

Back in December (obviously) I took Afton to the mall in Escondido to do the last of my Christmas shopping and spotted a short line for Santa. I asked Afton if he wanted to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas and to my surprise he said yes. So my shy little boy squeezed my hand as he walked up to sit on Santa's lap. He looked on the verge of tears but never actually cried. He even told Santa he wanted a drum set, which Santa obligingly brought him.

Mud Pots

Remember I said that Afton was obsessed with going to see the mud pots near the Salton Sea? We went! We decided to take the long way there through Julian and the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. It was a nice drive until Afton puked. Ha! We cleaned him up and continued on our way. Totally worth it too. There is something about watching a bubbling slurry of grey mud pop and ooze. Mini volcanoes! The Salton Sea is a strange and gorgeous place.

First Snow

We were able to go enjoy the snow on Mt. Graham while visiting family in Safford over the holidays. It was the first time Afton has played in the white stuff. He loved it so much!
